Siddha Payanam” – Commencement of the 24th BSMS Batch at Santhigiri
The 24th batch of the Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS) course commenced at Santhigiri Siddha Medical College under the title “Siddha Payanam.”
The inaugural ceremony, held at the college auditorium, began with the lighting of the lamp by Sarvadaraneeya Dr. Janani Nischitha Jnana Thapaswini, Director (Services), Santhigiri Ashram.
Dr. V. Arunachalam, former Director of the National Institute of Siddha and the founding Principal of the college, inaugurated the event.
In his address, Dr. Arunachalam remarked that Siddha medicine embodies India’s rich heritage, uniqueness, and spirituality. He emphasized that learning such a sacred science should take place in spiritually inspired environments rather than in conventional academic settings alone. “Spirituality is not religion. Santhigiri Ashram stands as a living example of that truth. There is perhaps no other place in the world that so beautifully symbolizes the guru–disciple bond,” he noted.
The function was presided over by Dr. R. Neelavathy, Principal of the College, and graced by the august presence of Swami Gurusavid Jnana Thapaswi, Head of Santhigiri Medical Services.
Vice Principal Dr. P. Hariharan, Asst. General Manager (Medical Education) S. Vijayan, Dr. G. Mohanambigai, Dr. J. Ninapriya, Ms. N. Sheeja, Dr. A. Kumari, Ms. J. Smita Shamoleena, Dr. Shraddha Sugathan, and Dr. J. M. Jayasri spoke on the occasion.
