Mock Fire Drill At Santhigiri Siddha Medical College
On 3rd July 2025, the Fire and Rescue Services from Venjaramood led a detailed Mock Fire Drill at Santhigiri Siddha Medical College to boost emergency preparedness among students and staff. The exercise began with a simulated fire, prompting a full evacuation to safety zones through clearly marked emergency exits. Officials emphasized the importance of calm and quick response. Demonstrations included navigating smoke-filled corridors and alternate escape routes. The team expanded the training to cover water-based rescues, sharing techniques for drowning scenarios. Attendees learned to operate fire extinguishers and respond to various fire hazards. The drill also introduced Basic Life Support (BLS), focusing on choking intervention, CPR, and first aid procedures. A brief seminar followed, covering fire hazard awareness, preventive measures, and the responsibilities of fire wardens. Concluding the event were interactive demonstrations, hands-on practice, and Q&A sessions. Participants gained vital safety knowledge and practical experience. In appreciation of their service, the Fire and Rescue team was honoured by the Principal of Santhigiri Siddha Medical College, symbolizing the success of a proactive initiative aimed at fostering a safety-conscious campus. The session effectively reinforced community readiness and gave Santhigiri Siddha Medical College members greater confidence in managing emergencies.
