As part of the Red Ribbon Club, an awareness session was conducted on the importance of blood donation to encourage a sense of social responsibility.

Dr. Smitha L, MBBS, MD (Pathology), Junior Consultant at the Blood Bank of Thaluq Hospital, Punalur, conducted the session. She explained the significance of blood donation and discussed the criteria for selecting donors. Dr. Smitha also covered the process of blood sample collection, how blood components such as plasma and platelets are separated, the storage and shelf life of each component, and the procedure for cross-matching blood for transfusions. She also emphasized the ethical aspects of blood donation.

The session was attended by all faculty members and students of Santhigiri Siddha Medical College. Nishanthi, a final-year BSMS student, expressed her gratitude to Dr. Smitha for the informative and valuable session.
