Maruthuva Thavara Iyal is an integral part of BSMS course as the subject emphasizes on Taxonomical studies and Identification, Pharmacological and Phytochemical studies of medicinal plants. Santhigiri Siddha Medical College also harbors a vast herbal garden in which around 400 species of plants including many rare and endangered plants are nurtured.
