🌿 Educational Field Visit by Pharmacecutical Sciences,Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram 🌿
Students from the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, visited Santhigiri Siddha Medical College on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, as part of an educational programme aimed at enhancing their knowledge of Siddha medicines and their manufacturing processes.
A group comprising 37 students and four faculty members toured Santhigiri Ayurveda & Siddha Vaidyasala, Santhigiri Siddha Medical College, and the institution’s Botanical Garden. The students, who have opted for Botany as a subject, showed keen interest in the rich diversity of medicinal plants and the scenic landscape of the campus.
Dr. V. Ranjitha, Professor and Head of the Department of Gunapadam (Marunthial) and faculty in Medicinal Botany, provided a detailed explanation of the medicinal plants maintained in the Botanical Garden and highlighted their therapeutic significance in Siddha medicine.
During the visit to Santhigiri Ayurveda & Siddha Vaidyasala, the students were introduced to the therapeutic applications of traditional Siddha medicines, advanced manufacturing techniques, safety protocols, and preservation methods. The session was led by Siddha Production Deputy Medical Officer Dr. Aneesh S. Murugan and Assistant Medical Superintendent Dr. V. I. Jyotish Kumar.
The visiting faculty members included Dr. Indira, Professor, Department of Pharmacognosy, along with Assistant Professors Dr. P. Ansi, Mimoon Khan, and K. S. Aswathy.
The visit concluded successfully at 1:00 PM, with faculty members and coordinators extending their best wishes to the students before their return journey to the campus.
