Sree Gokulam Nursing College Students Visited Santhigiri Siddha Medical College & Hospital
On 23rd February 2026 (Monday), the Seventh Semester B.Sc. Nursing students of Sree Gokulam Nursing College visited Santhigiri Siddha Medical College, its Herbal Garden, Hospital, and Santhigiri Ashram as part of their partial fulfillment of curricular requirements.
A team of forty-nine (49) students, including boys and girls, accompanied by two faculty members — Ms. Aarcha S. Nandan (Lecturer, Community Health Nursing) and Tutor Ms. Aswathy P.
The first academic session was conducted at the College Auditorium by Prof. Dr. J. Ninapriya, Head of the Gunapadam Marunthiyal Department. She delivered an informative lecture on the Introduction to Siddha and AYUSH Systems. Feedback was collected during the first session itself by Ms. Gouri Sankar.
Following the session, the students visited the Santhigiri Siddha Medical College Herbal Garden Prof.Renjitha V., faculty of the Gunapadam Marunthiyal Department (Maruthuvathavaraviyal), explained the specialties and unique features of numerous medicinal plants relevant to the Siddha system within the campus and herbal garden. The students showed keen interest in learning about botanical names, medicinal uses, and other plant characteristics. Through touch, observation, and direct interaction with the plants, they gained valuable practical knowledge.
Afterwards, the students visited the Siddha Medical College Hospital, where they observed various therapeutic procedures and traditional curing methods practiced under the Siddha system. The visit provided them with meaningful exposure to alternative medical practices.
Finally, the group visited Santhigiri Ashram and returned to their college with a memorable and enriching experience.
